This style of Mug was first designed as a digital model in computer software, then 3D printed as a master model with which a plaster mold was made. The handle was made and molded separately so it could be cast and attached later, this allowed me just a little more control
I then used multiple colours of porcelain, which I stained to get the right depth of colour, to swirl and throw around the mold to get my patterns. When that was set, I cast like normal with a white porcelain to get the body to the right thickness.
Lastly it was glazed with a transparent glaze so that the only colour visible is from the porcelain itself
