These Glitch vases are the crux of multiple making journeys. The form I designed on computer software and modified in a way that resembles the nature of CAD. Then a mold was made of this master model, a multi-part mold that needed to both support and not get in the way of the strange angles and weight of the piece. These would then be slip cast into the individual vases. However, first I would use different colours and create the Damascus Porcelain style inside the mold then use white porcelain to cast the body thickness.

These pieces are a test of how far I can push the medium and still make functional work. They display a slice through the form, as if cut with a blade, still standing the moment before it all collapses. The Damascus steel inspiration is clearly visible in the pieces’ form here, not just in its surface patternation.
